The Vorarlberg Regional Museum – now known as the Vorarlberg Museum – was founded in 1857, making it one of the oldest museums in the Lake Constance area. Its collections are based on specifically Vorarlberg-orientated themes, whilst retaining national and international links where relevant.

An innovative way to discover history in an exciting new environment.

Located between the lake and the city centre near the Art Gallery and Regional Theatre, the architectural masterpiece that is the new Vorarlberg Museum marks the end of the Cultural Mile. Since its opening in 2013 the museum has won prizes for its design and architecture.

The museum seeks not only to recreate the past, but also to portray the present day, using the concept “Vorarlberg - centre of culture past and present“. The principal focus is on archeology, history of art and folklore.

“Literally Vorarlberg“, one of the permanent exhibitions, offers an alphabetically listed, original way to understand the 160,000 objects in the museum collection.
